Full Circle

Starting this farm has been quite the journey. Since late summer/early fall 2022 we have been chipping away at all the things while, most importantly, observing the land. In permaculture, or nature, it is best to observe and learn before potentially creating more work. For us, observation, mentorship, and learning has been the key for creating the oasis we so deeply want and are creating.

It’s a funny thing- life has so many things in store that you may never be ready for. For us, we have and will always run into problems (no shocker: that’s life) but it matters how you move forward, each moment, towards solving them. Before moving we all have to make the decision to let go of our humanly control over nature and work with it in order to regenerate it. For example: We’ve implemented no till and no dig methods to regenerate soil. However, this was questioned by many every step of the way. Yet, everyone is entitled and has their own journey experiences and decisions to express and live. I am grateful we chose this method for many reasons but the garden is truly an experiment with nature. You don’t know if seeds will germinate or if weeds will infiltrate, but what we do know is that there is a lesson to be learned with each move that is made and each seed that is sown.

As we now move into our second year with our garden, business, and farm family we have many things we’ve learned to keep and things we’ve decided to change. Having patience is key to see these changes through while also hunting down our financial goals and plans. Fire Farmer Mitch refers it best to Murphy’s Law: “anything that can go wrong will go wrong” So don’t be surprised when it does-be ready! We will take this great law into our next year and so on, adapting with what nature and the universe has in store! We are so excited to continue to share our journey each step of the way with you all and excited to connect with you in the future! Stay tuned and until next time- peace & love, earthlings! ✌️💚
